Italian Council to develop sustainable building









To develop sustainable building in Italy, the Italian Regions and ITACA (Italy is subdivided in to twenty Regions and ITACA is the Federal Association of Italian Regions), founded SBC Italia along with ITC-CNR (Governmental Organization to develop research in Italy), ANCE (Builders National Association), INTESA-SAN Paolo Bank and RINA S.p.A. . SBC Italia (http://www.sbcitalia.org/ ) is a non profit organization that develops and manages both the SBC Protocols and the ITACA Protocol. SBC Protocols are the rating systems to assess sustainability of private housing, skyscrapers and office buildings, hospitals, universities, schools, industries and shopping centres; ITACA Protocol is a rating system for social housing. SBC Italia is a member of the SB ALLIANCE (http://www.sballiance.org/) the new European organization founded by Governmental Research Organizations in UK, Germany, France, Netherland, Italy, that will develop common elements for a European rating system to assess sustainable buildings.

Now SBC Italia work to assess:

- 10,000 flats of Piedmont Region housing program;

- Piedmont Region skyscraper (plan: Massimiliano Fuksas);

- Intesa SanPaolo Banking Group skyscraper (plan: Renzo Piano);

- Builders building in Alessandria (plan: Daniel Libeskind);

- Genua new University;

- Headquarter in Tuscany;

- Novara Healt City (Hospital);

- Ferrero spa nursery and a new building for offices.


SBC Italia have head offices in Rome, Milan and Turin.
